The wait is over and the rumors have been confirmed: Van Halen is in the process of recording their first album in more than a decade, and they’re getting some help from David Lee Roth.
It’s been 26 years since Van Halen and one-time lead singer David Lee Roth have recorded together, but 2011 will be the year that all changes with the release of their upcoming album. Though the band remains close-lipped, their publishing company, Warner/Chappell Music, said in a press release that “The group is currently in the studio recording an album with Roth that is due for release in 2011.”
David Lee Roth was the original Van Halen vocalist who led them to hits like Dance the Night Away and Eruption. They parted ways in 1985, but Roth joined with them again in 2007 for several concert dates. Now, he’s back in the studio with the band.

Rumors all over the interwebs have stated that Van Halen is in the finishing stages of a new record!? Several websites quoted from a “trusted source,” but I for one am questioning how true the statement really is. So far there has been no official word from the band or its representatives.
In other Van Halen news, they have been nominated for a Golden Joystick Award in the Music Game of the Year for their Guitar Hero: Van Halen game!

It has been announced that Sammy Hagar will be opening a beach bar on the sands of Atlantic City this summer! Hagar is partnering up with Bally’s Atlantic City, who is giving the remodeling reins to the rocker and is set to open its doors on May 28th on the boardwalk.
Hagar seemed to be the perfect fit with his own line of tequila and a string of Cabo Wabo nightspots around the country. Don Marrando, Eastern Division President of Harrah’s Entertainment Inc, says, “Sammy Hagar brings a new energy everywhere he goes… His Cabo lifestyle will reinvigorate the beach bar at Bally’s Atlantic City and continue the efforts Harrah’s Entertainment has made to position Atlantic City as the premier beach entertainment destination along the East Coast.” Harrah Entertainment owns Bally’s and three other casinos in Atlantic City.
